Louis COMTE ( 1783-1859 ) is one of the most famous artists of his time: conjurer, ventriloquist and " Physicist of the King ", title which awarded him Louis XVIII. He created a theater in 1812 in the Passage of the Panoramas, which he moved, forced by the authorities because of dangers of fire, in the Passage Choiseul in 1826, under the name of " Theater of the Young Pupils of Mr Comte ". In 1855, the management of the theater is given up to Jacques Offenbach, who renames the theater in " Bouffes Parisiens ", he will play it a big part of his operettas. Demolished and rebuilt in 1863, in bigger ( 1100 places), the Theater of " Bouffes Parisiens " always exists in the Passage Choiseul, passage which, in its time, lodged an another "celebrity", Louis Ferdinand Céline, he evokes it for a long time in " Mort à crédit ", under the name of the "Passage of Bérésinas".
