August Hensel was the first manufacturer, in Bavaria, of sewingmachines about the years 1870. He is the founder of the companies "Auto-Hensel" (automobile), "Fahrrad/Nähmaschinen-Hensel" (bicycles and sewing machines). It signed in 1905 the first sale contract of cars with Adam Opel A.G. . The various activities are gathered in the garage "August Hensel &Co" in 1914. In 1921, he becomes wholesaler of the Opel company. The businesses were flourishing between the two wars, cars, motorbikes, bicycles and sewing machines were sold well. In 1949 the company is divided into two: "Auto-Hensel, August Hensel & Sohn", Opel concession and shop repair,and "Heinrich Hensel K. G.", sewing machines, typewriters and bicycles. The Opel concession always exists, under the name of "Auto-Hensel und Fröhlich & Hübsch".
