Cabaret de la Belle-Meunière (Cabaret of the Beautiful Miller). - this establishment, placed in a magnificent situation downstream to the bridge of Iéna ( right side), occupied 300 square meters, in part on the bank, in part on the high quay. Mr Tronchet built it for Mrs Quinton, licence-holder. In the height of the quay were a basement (bar and cellar), an entresol (restaurant and diverse appendages); over the quay, an accessible ground floor by side frontage Iéna and Passy (restaurant and servant's hall), a floor (restaurant) with entresol part (servant's hall), finally a terrace at three levels, where from the consumers enjoyed a magnificent sight. Towards the Seine, the building presented : in the basement, a Tyrolean rough-cast basement, bored of three big arches; in the entresol, three Windows surmounting the bays of the basement; at the ground floor, three balconies caping the Windows and three bays with round angles; in the floor, a high glazed gallery in corbelled construction, spanned by consoles and covered with a tiled penthouse; at the level of the terrace, a wooden balustrade and masts. The architect had dismissed by settled prejudice the motifs of sculpture and realized a very picturesque aspect. Although simpler, the architecture of the other façades linked with the facade the Seine. At the ground floor and at the floor, the internal ornamental effect was mainly obtained by wooden skeletons remained visible : posts, arcatures, crossbars, short consoles, baskets with balusters, joists, american beams with friezes. The panelling of the floor consisted of a lighted balustrade-fence, letting see in its space, flowers and corns. All the wood of the first floor had been painted in white; those of the floor, tinged in yellow green and polished.
